Gateway personal computers

Our early efforts with Gateway had us challenged with an aggressive new tower platform with a perforated aluminum side that transitioned into the front. We had a rushed schedule and lucky for us we had just enough material to have one attempt at rolling and fitting the perf detail.

Our next rendezvous had us helping with an all in one concept. We provided a machined high density foam model for design study.

If there is one word to describe the next series of design review models it would be….polish. The initial model was finished using a high gloss paint process in line with keeping the clients costs relative to the use of the model. Round two saw flat front panels utilizing rear applied graphics and rear painted panels. Round three , the DX model, we went all the way, fully machined black acrylic front bezel. Finished to a glass finish along with the aluminum trim that also saw the full fury of the buffing wheel. Following the delivery of the DX came the request for the larger LX. With such a condensed schedule we had little time for photos, in fact we drove all night to hand deliver the model to the client in a Las Vegas hotel lobby, just in time for CES.
